Recent WFL efforts here have seen two wells already drilled and operating in the Chivi region in rural Zimbabwe. The first is located at a local high school where 800 students attend and 700 people live in the adjacent village, all of which benefit from the safe water it provides. The second serves 1000 people in another Chivi village, where it also provides water for surrounding farms. We will begin to drill for a third well in Chivi within a couple of months. These projects are the perfect companions to the additional training our partners provide in efficient, effective farming techniques like crop rotation and growing enough for sale in addition to immediate needs. This is how we multiply the effect clean water makes to these regions - it brings a better way of life.

The news this week is from Kosovo, where we have 6 projects in progress, 5 of which are almost done, and there are more in line through the summer. We’ve been getting a lot of cooperation from the local government administrators who are helping spread the word locally about our efforts as well as providing the names of the most needy families in the area and families who used to have only open wells now have a protected well that provides running water directly into homes! As an example, we helped one family in particular to upgrade their well. The husband has heart problems and the wife is mentally impaired, and now we are working alongside him to help him upgrade a neighbor’s well.
