We Are Here To Help

Over the last decade, checking and scrolling via social media has become increasingly common. While the majority of people’s use of social media is unproblematic, a small percentage of users become addicted to them and use them in an unhealthy or compulsive manner. Some experts estimate up to 10 percent of people in the United States require social media addiction treatment. However, due to how common social media use is in general, the number of those who have social media addiction may be higher.

What is Social Media Addiction

Social media addiction refers to an excessive and compulsive usage pattern of social networking platforms, leading to a significant interference with one's daily life, relationships, and responsibilities. It involves an uncontrollable urge to constantly check, engage, or seek validation through social media platforms, often resulting in negative consequences such as decreased productivity, isolation from real-life interactions, and heightened anxiety or depression when unable to access these platforms. The addictive nature stems from the instant gratification, validation, and the dopamine rush triggered by likes, comments, or shares, perpetuating a cycle of dependency on these online interactions.
